Festive Dining at The May Fair Hotel

December at The May Fair Hotel means there's always a reason to book a table. May Fair Kitchen carries the season from afternoon tea through to a full Christmas Day feast, with a festive set lunch and Christmas Eve dinner in between, and The May Fair Bar stays open on the day itself for anyone who'd rather raise a glass than sit down to five courses. Larger tables are just as welcome as tables for two, and for anyone giving rather than booking, a gift voucher makes for an easy gift.

May Fair Kitchen, Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea at May Fair Kitchen is built around Charbonnel et Walker chocolates and served with Newby Teas. Finger sandwiches include smoked salmon with Amalfi lemon cream cheese, and organic lemon-roasted corn-fed chicken with truffle mayonnaise, alongside warm buttermilk scones with Cornish clotted cream, and patisserie such as chocolate hazelnut mousse with dulce de leche and Madagascan vanilla, finished with Charbonnel et Walker truffles.

Afternoon tea starts from £49 per guest, with Champagne and rosé Champagne upgrades available.

May Fair Kitchen, Christmas Day

Christmas Day only comes round once a year, and May Fair Kitchen treats it that way. On Friday, 25th December, a five-course menu at £165 unfolds slowly, the way the day itself should: Champagne-cured Scottish salmon with hamachi and passion fruit dressing to begin, a Moët Brut jelly to clear the palate, aged beef Wellington with charred greens and red wine reduction at the centre of it all, and a Madagascan vanilla yule log with chestnut caramel to close. A three-course children's menu runs alongside at £70, built for the little ones at the table.

The May Fair Bar, Christmas Day

Not everyone wants a full sitting on Christmas Day, and The May Fair Bar makes room for that too. Open from 3pm to 11pm, it keeps The Travel Edition running as usual: a Wagyu sando with lemon mascarpone, lobster brioche with chilli lemon mayonnaise, and Korean fried chicken lollipops with creamy blue cheese sauce, alongside cocktails such as the Riviera, made with Whispering Angel Rosé and Provence flowers, and the Ciao, Amalfi lemon vodka with tomato and mozzarella, each one carrying the evening off somewhere else entirely.
